Life Journal

This is a journal I challenged myself to in January of 2012.
The goal was to have an entry each month.

A title page.
Answers to this 'Currently' prompt.
A favorite photo from the month.
 A self portrait.
Finally anything that marked a highlight of that month.
It took very little time each month, but the overall effect is quite satisfying.
I put to use a Rebecca Sower journal I  have been holding on to.
I was so proud of letting myself use it.
At the end of the year I did a 'Reflect" section...
which included mini booklets of things from the year.
Things I created...
This journal tells a personal story of the year one month at a time.
I decided not to do the same thing thing year.
I put together these pages with the thought of doing an art journal page each month.
Haven't started in it, though. Seems this thing keeps getting all up in my grill...

New and Different!

It was time to replace my sets this month due to 5 years of bimonthly washing. I went from eggshell and taupe to cream and gold.

Ow, ow!

I also replaced some undergarments in the same range of shades.

I am wearing electric blue polish on my toes, yo.

Also, life is too short for cheesy sheets, towels and panties.

Favorites from 2012

Photo from Pbs.org
Favorite movie from 2012, easily, was Lincoln. Devastating. Beautiful.
Danial Day Louis is everything.

Les Mis had its moments but overall it just wore me smooth out.

I have previously posted my top five favorite books of the year the last few, but I liked almost nothing I read this year. I read all but one book on my iPad so I am thinking I chose less interesting books to have in electronic format. Maybe that's all it was.
My one favorite book rom 2012 was Shantaram by David Gregory Roberts.
Photo from GoodReads.com
I do like an epic story and this was it. There was action and adventure then slow methodical descriptions of life in India in various capacities. Just my kind of book.
This author is interesting, hasn't written anything else.

I am enjoying my GoodReads. I use it as an app on my iPhone but you can create an account from your Mac or PC.
I would love for you to join me there, we can see each others reading lists and opinions.
And I am really enjoying Instagram.
I love to look through galleries and to post a photo a day there.
My January theme is quilts.

On to good things in 2013...

Rose Bowl Flea Finds

A trip to the Rose Bowl Flea was part of the November 2012 Spellbound event.
Why is it some people can look good looking into the sun? Whatever.
I bought this blue suitcase right away and then promptly filled it.
I could have sold that case many times over.
I bought a complete service for 6 on this mother of pearl flatware.
Can you just smell these erasers. I had to have them.
This school work book is from Garfield county Oklahoma. I had to bring it home from California. It is an exquisite study of biology and geography. I cant find a date on it but the pages are so old. half the page has waxy pages and the other half is like kraft paper. Lot so drawings. And this student shared my father's first name.

It's back home, Floyd.

2012 in Review

I love to keep records. I fully believe that is at the heart of my love for photography, that and the visual content which gives me endless pleasure. The year in photos...
January
Tried a 30 day photo challenge with the theme of gratitude making this journal as I went. I love making my own journals and filling them with photos which for me tells the story with little need for the written word.

February

Mother's birthday, my first she she died. I celebrated her birthday by placing pink roses on her grave. I also bought myself this mother of pearl ring. It brings me pride and joy. It came from Pandora.

March
Quilt class with Jemellia as she pursues her life goal to teach sewing.

My daughter's senior year, and all that implies. We hosted a french student for 2 weeks then Allie went to Senlis, France to stay with her family. My longest separation from her.
A good experience for everyone. Mostly her.
April
Mother's Death Day. I took this Utah trip alone to hike and heal. I got out of my head and into my body as I was challenged in many ways. One of the greatest most affirming experiences of my life.
May
Je and I with our little bird houses from a class at Paper Crown with Collete Copeland.
Allie addresses graduation announcements. How can that be?
The Prom...
The Face...
Bike wreck. Just in time for graduation...
June
July
Time at the lake.
On the water.
With Friends.

With family.
Or just us.
August.
Saying goodbye...
September
Lollipop wristlet class with Je.
Creating for Glitter Market...
Staying as busy as I can (see also June and August).
October
Celebrated my husband's birthday in Kauai.
A highlight of the trip was a helicopter ride.
Another was this hike to view the Napali coast.
But also this guy. Uhm, 60.

November
A new skill.

December
Lucille.
