Mother Goose

This last weekend was the only show I participate in anymore, our own Glitter Market.
I thank you if you came and supported us.
A wonderful group of friends, both Makers and patrons.
I made journals and knits this year for it.
Here is a sweet 1940s Mother Goose book I made into a journal.

Glitter Market Was Like This

I am bristling when I hear Christmas music. I realize it's now post-Thanksgiving and I usually start on my Celine Christmas CD but it feels wrong this year. Too early.  Maybe if I unwind the fall events and get farther along on my 2012 list I will be more in the mood. With that....Glitter Market.

Our fourth annual local handmade market produced by Paper Crown is always fun. I love these vendors. Who says we don't have crafty people in Oklahoma? Actually someone did say that during Silver Bella. I might be holding a grudge...

OH these gals...
Charlotte Perez beloved for her jewelry, laughter and those red lips.
Jackie Peters our premier Oklahoma paper artist. She bakes. She gives. She achieves at the highest standard.
Colette Copeland came from Canada! Us Oklahoma gals are a draw, really, she keeps coming back. Thankfully so.
Above, my purchases and goodies from Colette.
There is a lovely restraint and a little wink in all her work.
Charlotte...Oy...

Without a doubt the most gorgeous, funny, empathetic creature on this planet.
And talented something fierce...

My stuff..
I still have journals remaining...might offer them on Etsy or here?
My knits are still wanted.
It remains humbling..
Franc. Franc Franke. What a doll.
She helps Jackie by whipping those crowds into shape. She is Jackie's bouncer.

Here are my Jackie purchases and goodies...
Jackie and Evangeline my bird's birdie.
We will do Glitter Market next fall again and maybe this spring where I will bring soft things like dolls and pillows...maybe, probably.
Gawd 2013? No.

Good things, all.

Back to My Hands

After much sitting, studying (to include napping) and weeks, months of not making anything, I took my PA Recertification Boards and got right back to my hands.

I had knitted while visiting mother and had a pile of knitted bits to complete. It has felt so good to be productive. Like medicine, like therapy!

Started these journals earlier this year and now they're finished.

Sewing, paper, medicine! Therapy!

I am feeling so good. Its weird. I like it.

Also sleeping. Its weird. I like it.

And the bead weaving again.

And again...

Ready for Glitter Market.

This Is New

My little girlie friend Jemellia and I always do our show booths together. However, we have 3 Etsy shops between us. So we decided to call our collaboration 2 Birds In A Pod. I have launched the site 2BirdsInAPod for news about our appearances and such. I would love for you to take a peak, say howdy and follow us. I have a button over there on the side to access it anytime you are here.

Thank you, thank you, we are so proud of it. Much of the reason I do anything in this web world, blog and Etsy is because of Jemellia. I am thrilled to continue our collaboration. Many thanks!!

Oz

I always donate a doll or three to the school auction. A few years ago the theme was The Wizard of Oz. I made up three items for that and thought I'd show you.

The whole lynch pin for Dorothy's problem with the witch is the unseen dead sister. This is all we glimpse of her. I thought I would honor her.

Of course we love Dorothy and the Wicked Witch because they represent the classic struggle between good and evil, virgin and naughty girl.

The three dolls brought in some good money for the school so I was thrilled. I then sold all the witches I had made. Since fall is upon us, well, it will be, thought I would make some more.

Dang this is the part where I rethink how much I charge for these witches. Each doll takes about 6 to 8 hours to create. I feel the textile arts are so under-valued. I have to keep reminding myself at times why I enjoy this. Then the faces start to come to life and I love them all over again!

Hand Maids

The Internet with its fantastical technology has given rebirth, paradoxically, to things handmade. As soon as that opposing digit sprouted, we primates have been tool users. Further, our big 'ol brains have the capacity for great creativity. Now we can photograph, market, sale, and connect to others who do and enjoy the same. Its a bit of tick picking satellite style.

Our Etsy community is called the Disciples of Etsy as we Oklahomans are in the buckle of the bible belt. Pack your pistil and the Good Word and don't go backsliding, ya'll. Some very industrious little OKC gals put on an Indie Craft Bazaar named Deluxe. The first one was December 2008 and was a smash. This spring model is bigger, better and scheduled for this coming Saturday, 9 May 2009.

Because I am so productive I rarely have to make anything just for craft shows. I was however trying a few new things. These pillows represent an amalgam of sewing, embroidery and knitting. This Couch Corsage Pillow is so named because the flower is a pin or corsage that your sofa wears.

In an effort to knit for a warmer season I made these wrist cuffs accessorized with a rose. I can just see girls wearing these to their dance while no flowers are harmed to embellish their outfits.

So that I can display my shrugs and stoles, perfect for the prom and wedding season, I asked my husband to help me with display stands. The second set is seen below. There was a brief period of not speaking between the prototype set and this finished product.

My table cloths are selected.

My inventory awaits packing. Hold on girls, I'll be right there.

We will see who gets selected and who comes back home with mama, the hand maid.
