Started this needlepoint project, it is enormous and I expect it to take about ten years. Really.

Watched my Sooners beat Alabama in the Sugar Bowl.

Allie went.

She is with her adorable cousin, Lee, from New Orleans here.

Visited my parents.

Experimenting with Italian wines.

Participating in Root, a 30 day journaling project.

Obsessing with this girl and her abundant doggy ears.

Bloggy Again

 

I feel renewed interest in not only my own blog but all blogs I follow. Now that the whole change of reader since Google Reader closed has happened, I am following blogs daily again via Feedly. After the new iPhone update I am also able to comment on blogs again.

 

So thanks for keeping it going and looking and reading and all of that.

Stephanie Ackerman came to OKC and taught at My Heart's Fancy.

This second class was about doodle, stamp and stitch.

We doodled...

We carved...

My simplistic boxes stamp...

...put to use.

I tried it on my new journal inspired by her.

After having enjoyed Dawn DeVries at Handmade U in Spring 2012,

I enrolled in her online Doodle Camp.

Over a one week period we made a little journal and started coloring, basically.

There is something about Dawn's prompts that feel like permission

rather than assignments to me.

I have done this mix of amorphous color with the fine control of the black ink.

I was quite low through July and my work reflects it, not in content but in scale.

Small. Tedious. For that is often all I can handle.

 

I am obsessed with getting doodly.

Handmade U Frosh

 

It happens almost everytime. I think I am done blogging, then I get inspired
and can't wait to share. I am feel very much like creating after my weekend
at Rachel McGough's Handmade U event in Omaha.

Shelley Overholt of Tuttle, Oklahoma and I flew to Omaha. Really enjoyed that Shelley.
Of course everyone does.
Handmade U features two full day classes, a format I had not experienced
and really enjoyed.
Dawn Sokol led a Tape Bound Journal class.

We made a journal with tape and paint and general frolic.

She then provided exercises in doodling with TIME TO DOODLE. How about that??

Camille McClelland (right) led a two project leather tooling class.

She is the leather whisperer...

 I made the cuff below which bears my word for the year....

 

and the flower cluster which will become a pendant.

I just want to play all day. I am full of ideas and am worthless at other parts of my life now. More worthless than usual is accurate to say...

 

I am thinking to resurrect my idea of having classes at my husband's salvage shop
Oklahoma Barn Market.
Shelley has been asking about a doll class for a few years.
I am thinking about it...
