Gilded Day The Second

Jemellia and I attended The Gilded Nest event. First day was the bus trip to Canton for the monster flea.

Then we arrive at the church for our class with Colleen Moody of prim doll fame.

The table was set for 30.
Thur. Dee.
They take that whole 'bigger'n Dallas' thing seriously..
They spoiled us rotten. Our families are forever angry with Shea and Debbie...

We each had a Gilded Life bag of really good stuff. I have peaked at it all, but true to form, I have not opened everything yet. I will use it as a lovely distraction on a bad day. Which I will and won't look forward to...

The place setting from Colleen...

Then Colleen gave us the bird.

Paint.

Then the costuming. And a gilded crown.

Oh shit. That is not my crown.

That belongs to Charlotte.

Whom I love. Well, until I met her doll.

My bird scrubs her bird's floors.

And is thrilled for the work.

Fortunately...we were fed gloriously all day then had an intimate vendor night.

Colleen's dolls.

Colleen is a doll.

Shea and Debbie's table.

And throne...

Such a good day.
Really, Charlotte?

The next day, Shea wrapped us in wire and made us eat cupcakes.

Cake Tops and Holly

I have blogged in my short bloglife already about Miss Holly. I am fixin' (yes I said fixin') to do it again. In a prior post , I admitted to having found a pretty avatar on Flikr which I followed to Holly Abston and found that she teaches classes right here in Oklahoma City. Not California. Not New York. Oklahoma! where the wind comes sweeping down the plain. I made her Butterfly Crown and now it lives on a lamp in my craft room, or studio (wait, I might be struck by lighting for saying studio....) okay we're good.

I took another class this last Saturday for a Cake Top Box. Mmmmmm. She has terrific little kits. I love the anticipation of what lies beneath...

The pretties inside the kit. Her kits are so complete, absolutely all you need to bring is your glue gun and an ability not to cuss as hot glue sears your flesh.

Along the way.

Later that day.

My cake top box lives alongside the jadite pieces in my china cabinet.

I will be going to Holly's house later this week because I totally weaseled in Holly's request of my friend Jemellia to make a slip cover for her. See what a sweet little bundle Jemellia brought to class for me just because I am her friend? Clearly that was before she realized I getting all up in her slipcover.

So I will be ogling Holly's house taking my stalking of her to the next level. Lucky girl...

Eggs

Perhaps I am naturally drawn to birds, maybe it is because I have an undergraduate degree in Zoology or have taught zoology, or I am named Robin or am fascinated with ovaries...whatever the reason, I have always been intrigued by eggs and drawn to ovals. My china even bears an oval filled, of course, with flowers.

Many of the fabulous blogs I follow are including chick pictures, nests and such for this time of the year and of course the Easter holiday. The egg is my focal point now and here is my parade of some...

Here is an egg I made on a pillow above the word 'nest' one of my favorite words...

In my shell pink milk glass goblet, sits an egg...

which nests....

More I have made...

And old German egg by my robins which shake salt and pepper ...

A needlepoint pillow from my mother....

Like the potential of an egg, here is a gift from my mother, a Martha Stewart tin with sets of soaps in egg shapes. It was packaged so beautifully I could not bear to open it. I miss her catalog...

The front door...

Here is to spring...
