I realized only after I posted last week, that I offered a give-away, asked you to leave a comment then promptly told you I was depressed. Brilliant. Tit for tat, right? Not this week. Three Blog Years: Give-Away One

This blog began in February 2009, three years ago. It has been such an essential part of my growth, reaching out and telling my truth to you has been very healing. I thank you. I will do three give-aways ways to express, in small part, my gratefulness for this blog and you. To enter, leave a comment on this post. You know how you feel it coming on? First, you're tired, then there is that little headache, backache, scratch in the throat. You ignore hoping it goes away. At some point, as symptoms march on, you realize and then admit its a cold and you're getting sick.

Its been like that for the last few weeks. Restless dreams I don't want, then poor sleep. Lacking the energy to leave a supportive comment on a blog. Lack of being able to get it up again for another dinner even though I love feeding these people. Day dreams of time away without the chores, in the sun, just me and the feel of warmth and lack of demands. I admit it, this is not just grief, it's depression. I called it a hibernation last winter. Trying to accept it and let it wash over me and then recede as it always does.

I want to see my mother. I want that simple ability I had for so many years to just get in the car and go see her. That voice, those green eyes, the little sounds of her. I have been doing well, I have been getting on without her, can't I be rewarded with a short little visit today?

Its difficult today.

My Cosmo Ya'll and Post 200 Giveaway

My girl Jemellia is quite the seamstress and fabric is really her thing. She is hosting a Monthly Bag Challenge using the Amy Butler book Style Stitches.

Having never sewn a bag or used a pattern before, I took a class at the local quilt shop, Quiltworks, with my buddy Leslie using the Amy Butler Birdie Bag pattern on Friday. I chose to use a French General fabric with a bird on it for my first ever sewing project of this kind.

It went so well! I was thrilled with the outcome.

I thought "Oh my gosh, I am good at this!"

And then...

The Cosmo bag... I chose this Dena Fishbein blue with birds, of course, from Hawthorne Threads. Love their website.

Just so you know, Amy lists this as the first bag and calls it easy. I could gouge her eyes out for that. Thank God Leslie had shown me how to do the Birdie bag or I could never have figured out much of this pattern.

That last step was horrible, ridiculous and the wonkiest stitching of all is right there in the handle of the finished product. I am still reeling from the beastly ghastliness of it. Other members of the bag challenge produced some lovely bags and they can be seen in the Flikr group. Not everyone is as surly as me about it!

That's why its called a challenge and thus I am more determined than ever to complete all 12 bags this year but only because Birdie is so cute! And by Birdie I do mean Jemellia.

Giveaway!

This is my 200th post. I would like to celebrate. I feel like shipping out that Cosmo bag but I have as much time in it as it takes to get a Master's Degree, so no. I will however put together a little surprise package of ephemera to one of you, something like what you see above. Please leave a comment here to enter.
