Artists I Like

Paper Crown hosted a spring Glitter Market here in OKC. Due to being overly busy and underinspired I did not vend but happily attended. The best part maybe is hosting that Charlotte Perez. She and Lucille together was a favorite moment.

And you know when you have a friend with a distinctive fragrance? Not necessarily just a fragrance but the whole thing is them and is unlike any other. Charlotte has that of course. It is fragrance, hair products, handbags and laughter. I smelled that coming around my corner that first morning and danced a jig, fist pumped and all before my coffee. So special to have her in my home.
And I scored some CPOs (Charlotte Perez Originals).
These things from Jackie Peters.
A love gift from Jackie.

The distinctive sweet style of Colette Copeland all the way from Toronto to our town.
That little Robin pouch was a special gift, thank you so much CoCo!
Also picked up something wonderful from Linda Land and Holly Abston. Have to photograph these. I do not have enough Holly Abston in my life.

Be well and thanks for reading me.

Glitter Market Was Like This

I am bristling when I hear Christmas music. I realize it's now post-Thanksgiving and I usually start on my Celine Christmas CD but it feels wrong this year. Too early.  Maybe if I unwind the fall events and get farther along on my 2012 list I will be more in the mood. With that....Glitter Market.

Our fourth annual local handmade market produced by Paper Crown is always fun. I love these vendors. Who says we don't have crafty people in Oklahoma? Actually someone did say that during Silver Bella. I might be holding a grudge...

OH these gals...
Charlotte Perez beloved for her jewelry, laughter and those red lips.
Jackie Peters our premier Oklahoma paper artist. She bakes. She gives. She achieves at the highest standard.
Colette Copeland came from Canada! Us Oklahoma gals are a draw, really, she keeps coming back. Thankfully so.
Above, my purchases and goodies from Colette.
There is a lovely restraint and a little wink in all her work.
Charlotte...Oy...

Without a doubt the most gorgeous, funny, empathetic creature on this planet.
And talented something fierce...

My stuff..
I still have journals remaining...might offer them on Etsy or here?
My knits are still wanted.
It remains humbling..
Franc. Franc Franke. What a doll.
She helps Jackie by whipping those crowds into shape. She is Jackie's bouncer.

Here are my Jackie purchases and goodies...
Jackie and Evangeline my bird's birdie.
We will do Glitter Market next fall again and maybe this spring where I will bring soft things like dolls and pillows...maybe, probably.
Gawd 2013? No.

This Is This

I gave a peek at a project in my last post. Here is full frontal viewing of one of the pieces. It is a journal ala Rebecca Sower's Hodge-Podge Journal I am currently obsessed with. I made it as a gift for Holly Abston's baby shower given recently by Shelley Overholt and Holly's sister Amy.

Holly is having a little boy this time. She had a boy baby the last time, and the time before that. This journal uses the number three often and of course that blue. You know THAT blue? The cover bears a page from an old hymnal titled "O Blessed Son of God." Oops did I make Holly cry? Awwww, shoot.

That image is a baby boy riding a stork. The music page reads "brotherhood."

Just browse through some of the pages...

In 1210 she is having number 3.

It was such a joy to work on a page here and there while taking care of mother.

Art nurtures.

That bird bears a crown with the initial "R."

I completely love working with paper and glue.

Above is the interior of the back cover. The book page number 3 had "born" circled.

The back cover displays a fusion of symbols for Holly and me. I met Holly taking a crown making class at Paper Crown. Birds, eggs and wings are themes I always use.

Here is to a boring delivery and a healthy boy, dear Holly.
